MRI Artifacts: Mechanism and Control
نویسنده
چکیده
A wide variety of artifacts is routinely encountered on MR images. This article presents the cause, appearance, diagnostic effect, and available remedies for the artifacts that are most frequently observed on MR images and are of greatest clinical significance. Combined with routine preventive maintenance of imaging equipment, consistent quality control, and appropriate selection of imaging parameters, awareness of the manifestations of these artifacts will allow image quality and diagnostic interpretation to be optimized.

Artifacts of Titanium, Zirconium, and Binary Titanium-Zirconium Abutments in Compute Tomography, Cone Beam Computed Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Aim: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate imaging artifacts induced by Titanium, Zirconium, Titanium-Zirconium abutments in CT, MRI and CBCT imaging modalities. Methods: A 4×8mm titanium fixture was inserted in a dry human mandible. Titanium, Zirconium and Titanium–Zirconium abutments measuring 10.5 mm in height are located on the fixture, one by one. Each abutment was scan...
متن کاملArtifacts in 3-Tesla MRI: Physics and reduction strategies
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at a field strength of 3 Tesla has become more and more frequently used in recent years. In an increasing number of radiological sites, 3-Tesla MRI now starts to play the same role for clinical imaging that was occupied by 1.5-Tesla systems in the past. Because of physical limitations related to the higher field strength and because of protocols transferred from...

متن کاملAccelerating Magnetic Resonance Imaging through Compressed Sensing Theory in the Direction space-k
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive imaging method widely used in medical diagnosis. Data in MRI are obtained line-by-line within the K-space, where there are usually a great number of such lines. For this reason, magnetic resonance imaging is slow. MRI can be accelerated through several methods such as parallel imaging and compressed sensing, where a fraction of the K-space lines...
متن کاملREGION MERGING STRATEGY FOR BRAIN MRI SEGMENTATION USING DEMPSTER-SHAFER THEORY
Detection of brain tissues using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an active and challenging research area in computational neuroscience. Brain MRI artifacts lead to an uncertainty in pixel values. Therefore, brain MRI segmentation is a complicated concern which is tackled by a novel data fusion approach. The proposed algorithm has two main steps. In the first step the brain MRI is divided to...
